I’ve walked past this so often now, it’s become part of the landscape. I barely notice that it is empty and becoming a home for pigeons.
But the old Hamilton Police station is now the second empty police station. The other one is in the middle of St George’s.
Both are rotting away, both have very prominent locations, and both appear to have no plans for their future.
It struck me that while I am all in favour of having new businesses set up in St David’s (the most forgotten about and neglected area in Bermuda) wouldn’t a refurbished Hamilton station be perfectly acceptable for a tech hub?
What could happen to the St George’s police station? Any suggestions?
I’ve seen lots of empty Government buildings over the years – I’m no expert, is it easier and cheaper to build new instead of renovating? Seems to my uneducated eyes that there is a lot of waste.
What empty Government buildings have you seen that you think could still be renovated and used?
